Daughters of Alfred University alumni play on lacrosse U20 world championship team

The daughters of Dan Callahan ’89 and Steve Argentieri ’90, former teammates on the Alfred University football team, competed in the U20 women’s lacrosse championships in Hong Kong last month, helping the United States team to a gold medal in the international competition.

Grace Callahan is a junior at the University of Michigan and Francesca Argentieri is a junior at Northwestern University. They were part of a U.S. team that defeated Canada, 23-6, in the tournament championship game August 26. Argentieri, a goalie, posted a 2.24 goals against average to set a new tournament record.

Dan Callahan earned a bachelor’s degree in general science from Alfred University in 1989 and lives in Victor, NY. He has been with Pfizer for 35 years, the last 15 as key account manager. His daughter, Grace, plays defense for the Michigan women’s lacrosse team and is a two-time All-American and All-Big 10 Conference selection.

Steve Argentieri earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice studies from Alfred University in 1990. He lives in Auburn, NY, and is a recon salesman at Stryker, a global leader in medical technologies. His daughter, Francesca, plays goalie at Northwestern and last spring earned all-academic honors from the Big 10 Conference.
